Liz DeWeese
Pastor
Our minister, Liz DeWeese, is a self-proclaimed Southern Girl. She was born in North Carolina and grew up in Marietta, GA and Madisonville, KY, so she can definitely sink into her southern accent whenever she wants. Liz earned a BA in Peace Studies with an emphasis in Social Justice and a minor in Religious Studies from Chapman University in Orange, CA. As an undergraduate, Liz had the opportunity to study abroad in Austria and traveled to Hungary, Germany, and Italy. This experience taught her to have a global perspective on life—to see how we are all connected and that what we do does affect the rest of the world. While at Chapman, Liz met her husband, Don, who is also a Disciples of Christ minister. Liz and Don then attended Lexington Theological Seminary in Lexington, KY and were married while they were students. After graduating with a Master of Divinity, Liz pastored a congregation in Athens, GA for two years, then a congregation in Taylorstown, PA for three years. Liz and Don welcomed their daughter Abbie into the world in April of 2008 and she is the light of their lives (and our congregation is quite fond of her as well). Liz began serving AHCC in November 2008.
